The Doll on the Top Shelf is a hard cover picture book written by well-known children's author Ruth Turk. It tells a sensitive story about a little girl's choice of a doll for Christmas. The little girl is blind and she bases her choice of a doll on how it feels - not on how it looks visually. A description of each illustration is included with the braille text.

The Doll on the Top Shelf is designed for adults to read aloud to children, and will appeal to both sighted and visually impaired children. The back of the book contains the braille alphabet plus a short history in print about Louis Braille and his system of reading and writing.
